What is a PBN?
Definition: A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a network of authoritative websites used to build links to your “money” websites to rank higher in the Google search engine.
Is a PBN Link Really Worth It?
A PBN link is an effective way to drive traffic to your website. It can also be a time saver regarding your link-building campaign. However, there are risks to using this strategy. These include spammy links and a potential Google penalty. If you’re considering using PBNs, you should use the right strategy and action plan.
A PBN is a collection of websites with backlinks to one or more of your primary websites. You can control how you want to manage your PBN in terms of anchor texts, content, and more. For instance, you may prefer to focus on tier-three links.
While the PBN might be an effective tool for boosting your search rankings, it can be a costly investment. In rare cases, consider only buying PBN links to your money domains to get the most out of your money. The quality of your PBN link should be a significant concern.
Generally, the best PBN links are GEO targeted and have a similar gLTD extension. Using the PBN to your advantage involves the right strategy, a little upkeep, and a lot of commitment. Be sure to follow the advice you receive to gain the most benefit from your investment.
As you probably know, backlinks are a major ranking factor in Google’s algorithm. A PBN is not the only way to get a good link profile, but it is undoubtedly intelligent. Even if you have an existing link profile, you can improve it to ensure that your content gets the recognition it deserves. This can lead to improved sales and better overall brand exposure.
A PBN is an efficient way to build many backlinks quickly. However, the process can be time-consuming, and you’ll have to monitor the results. So, is it worth it?
If you are in the market for a link-building solution, there are two alternatives to PBNs: building your own or outsourcing it to a company. One option is to outsource the task, but be wary of companies who offer a link exchange. They are known to manipulate the links, and the result may be more harm than good.
On the other hand, building a PBN from scratch is expensive and time-consuming. You’ll have to spend hours on each domain. Depending on the amount of effort you’re willing to put into your PBN, you can end up with hundreds of backlinks, but it’s important to note that these backlinks will not be of any use to you if they’re not natural. Fortunately, there are a few ways to spot a bad link, such as by comparing the anchor text and the association source.
There are many PBN links, but the most important is the “best of the best” – a high-quality, authoritative website. Such a site will garner a large percentage of organic traffic and can be a powerful ranking signal in the SERPs.
A PBN is a set of domains that you own that are used to rank money sites. A client’s website is also referred to as a money site. These domains are usually found years after they have expired. However, they still have good authority from when their content was live. We will expand a bit later on the process to find and quality-check domain purchasing for your private blog network.
Back to basics… PBNS stands for ‘PBN Site,’ referring to a website part of your private blog network. It is essential to note the difference between a PBN and PBNS because each PBNS is an individual. Each site within your network is NOT AT ALL linked to one another. The entire idea of a private blog network (PBN) is that the websites appear unrelated to each other, therefore creating more natural-looking, independent links.
How does Google feel about PBNS?… They are NOT allowed. They are completely against the rules.
Google will only tell you how to rank well when they advise you to use their platform: AdWords. After all, they need to make money somehow. However, they are the worst source regarding ranking within the Organic Results.
If we are being honest, I’m sure Google wouldn’t be attempting to target them and scare people away from the strategy if it didn’t work. Any threats are more likely just a little scare tactic. When done “properly,” people are still building networks and ranking as quickly as ever.
Why does it work?
“Links are one of the most important ranking factors. It turns out that backlinks, even though there’s some noise and certainly a lot of spam, for the most part, is still a huge win in terms of quality of search results.” That is a quote from Matt Cutts about excluding backlink relevancy from the Google algorithm.
This strategy is so effective because the websites forming a PBN are considered by Google authoritative. To retain your credibility and the integrity of your site, you will want to ensure that you are not receiving links from a brand new website, nor a spammy untrustworthy one. You should only receive links from popular websites that Google’s algorithm approves.
To understand how this works, here is a representative example:
An initiative was launched in 2010 to replace all the food lost in the homeless shelter fires in California. A website was created under feedcaliforniaafterthefire.com. The industry received a lot of publicity, featured on their local government and news websites. They raised enough publicity and money to follow through with their plan. And they did, all within a year. Now that their website is no longer needed, renewing the hosting and domain has become a pointless cost. It was left to expire. Remember, this is a domain that has links from local government websites and local news websites. Because it has links from these highly trustworthy sites, Google also presumes this website is trustworthy.
Fast forward to today… An SEO finds this domain, can look up the metrics to see how trustworthy and authoritatively it is regarded, and purchase it from any domain registrar to use for their PBN. That is, how most PBN domains are found. However, it is a fitting example to consider.
Responsible follow-through on every site you create is imperative. Consistently “cleaning your house” will ensure your good standing with Google and keep the creepers and the cobwebs out of your system.
